Eddie and Joy await the visit of their daughter Allison, who is studying in college. They are, however, surprised to find that Allison is accompanied by a hippie named Doug, who turns out to be her boyfriend. Eddie is quite disapproving of her daughter’s latest boyfriend. Later, Allison and Doug have an argument which results in the two breaking up their relationship. Following this Doug moves in with Kenny and takes up his bedroom. This initially makes Eddie happy but he soon learns that Doug is quite wealthy and this changes his views about the boy and his relationship with his daughter. He then tries to make peace between Allison and Doug with the help of Joy. They initiate the process by inviting Doug over to have dinner with the family. The dinner turns out to be an organic feast which is intended to impress Doug. Kenny also wants to see Allison and Doug back together so that he can get back his bedroom for himself.
